I love the vibrant color combination!

but I have the qns ... is it better to leave pictures in their original captured state (in terms of color, composition, etc) or do some tweaking? What is the take from professional photography point of view? :)

Sometimes, i feel reluctant to do a lot of tweaking to the pics that I have taken as I want to maintain their originality.

thanks for ur comment.

for ur questions, i dont think theres a single right answer.

but i will try to explain a few thing abt color and photography.

first, people's psychology about color is different in different people. eg. u might not like certain color of cloth and wont wear it but some like it so much. right? some culture like vibrant colors eg. indian. Europeans prefer softer colors. there are scientific research on effect of colors on people but as in art, its more relative.
so, when i see a photo or a place in real life, it might not exactly the same wat u saw in your vision. its already being biased by ur prejudice of ur preference in colors and shape.

secondly, technology..
when u say to leave the photo naturally, how would u know its natural? :) actually, no photo is natural.
in film, the chemicals are mixed by different ratio to give certain color combination. different film stock give different color response, eg. fuji velvia have very rich blue and green. kodak portra has nice soft colors.
that is already being biased to certain taste and scene.
digital camera are the same. different manufacturer follow different taste. if u take a scene with different cameras, it wont look the same. and most camera even have different mode. like portrait , landscape etc to change the color response curve.
and another thing is dynamic range. when you look at a landscape in daytime or sunset. your eyes can see the sky and sea/land very clearly.. even thought the sky is very much brighter than the land. cos our eyes has greater dynamic range. but the cameras/film cant match that. that's why when u shoot a person again a bright sky , he will turn out black. or the sky becomes white. thats the limitation of the technology.

so to answer your question, i grade my photos as the way i wanna see it. it might not be the exactly like the real life or it might not be the way camera sees it. but the way i saw it in my mind.

so.. does it answer ur question? :)
