Singapore Nights

I was just driving back to home from Peninsula plaza... and saw those on the way home..
Not sure why but I just found them to be appealing.. possibly the color..
Usually. nights in singapore are filled with sodium flood lights... lights from cars .. housings and shopping malls... and I barely can find it appealing..
(btw, they are almost exactly the same as I saw and I got out of camera... I didnt do much processing unlike my other photos)

Sunset @ labrador 1

Sunset @ labrador 1, originally uploaded by Maung Maung aka Mexx.

went to Labrador park with Ko Sarpatee and ko Rainstealer from Native Maynamr forum last saturday to shoot sunset..

after a few bad turns and struggle to look for a parking spot, we were like 15 minutes too late t shoot the best part of the sunset..

but these are just consolation prize i guess. :)

one night in the ocean

back when i was in vietnam.. this september..

i went to ha long bay.. and bought ocean resort tour .. a tiny private resort island stay in ha long bay..
it was fine for the first day.. but the storm came in.. a big typhoon..
the ocean is swelling with waves.. all the ships are anchored.. cant do anything.. stuck on the island.. for 2 more nite..
me, my cousin and this nice french couples.. who also happens to be artists.. we drink and we chat..

the third day, i couldnt take it anymore.. i have a flight to catch in Hanoi back to singapore via bangkok.. so i demand the tour company to find ways to make my way back hanoi..

they asked me to board on a small boat.. which is rocking crazy even when its docked in the wharf.. so i told them, i need a bigger boat..

after much arguments ( * this is me), they got us a fishing boat..
its cool.. and its very fast.. and we are on the way back..

its one of the experience i will nv forget in my life..

My approach to grade a landscape photo in Lightroon

Here, I am trying to share my typical work flow to deal with color grading landscape photos in Adobe Lightroom 2. (note: my photos is shot in RAW with Canon EOS 450D)

here is my photo. you can see its a overcast day with a lot of clouds and very little contrast.

I bootsted the exposure a little to bring up the sea.

I boosted the vibrance for richer colorful sea.

Now, using the gradient tool in LR 2, i lowered the exposure of the sky as well as boosted its contrast to see better details of clouds. I also turn up the saturation for richer color and even added the blue tint to enhance the blue.

Finally, i crop my photo for the panorama and also notice I try to crop with the rule-of-third in mind.

Some final tweaks boosting contrast and vibrance.

This is just some typical steps I do to most of my landscape photos but the acutual process will differ from photo to photo. I also spend more time to tweak individual color and split-toning ( and sharpening) to achieve the final look.

here's the comparison from start to the end.
